The very Book Club theme is Hidden Identities! I love a good book with hidden identities, and I am sharing one of my favorites!

Betraying Korth by Mary Mecham is a villainous Goose Girl retelling with rebellion, hidden identities, and romance!
The world was well done, and I love how it was set-up. The author did a wonderful job of twisting this story to fit this world and make the reader sympathetic to the handmaiden. There is also a little bit of magic in this world, which is very intriguing and draws you even more into the world. I always love a good political drama, and the political side of this book is fascinating and well done. The author did an incredible job in this regard, and it really deepened the world.
The storyline was very engaging and kept me on the edge of my seat. I love Goose Girl retellings, and this is definitely one of my favorites! The hidden identity portion of the story added a layer of suspense, that also kept drawing me in. The rebellion side of things was also very suspenseful, and I loved this side of the story. I liked how it made the handmaiden’s story more complete and added depth to this world.
The characters, Dahlia and Korth, were the best! I loved them both individually and together so much. Dahlia was determined to get justice and freedom for her people. She was willing to do whatever it took to get it. She also liked to have fun, though, which was a nice balance. Korth, on the other hand, was very serious and a rule follower, and he struggled letting loose. They both had nice character arcs, and they brought out the best in each other. Their romance was so sweet, and I loved how they grew together!
