The Soul Mesh: First Signal is an interesting book set in a futuristic world with intriguing powers and compelling storyline.

I have to admit that I did not like this book very much. I could see what it was trying to be, but it did not accomplish that for me.

From my understanding, the author is a screenwriter. This book was written very similar to a screen play, and it kept pulling me out of the book. I think this book would make an amazing show- one that I would totally watch! It felt like something I would see on tv. Unfortunately, it didn’t quite come across the same in the form of a book.

I will say it reminded me a lot of other things I have read and watched. It reminded me of Heroes, Pittacus Lore, Avatar the Last Airbender, and more!

Along with a writing style that I struggled with, it was also cheesy at moments and a lot of the dialogue felt unrealistic. It was something I noticed multiple times throughout the book, and it kept pulling me out of the story.

The characters were intriguing, and I did enjoy them. This book was setting up this world and universe, so there was a lot going on. It was a little overwhelming at times, but I was intrigued by it all. I loved the premise, and it felt like a classic dystopian novel.

I did not love this book, but I also do not think I am the target audience for this book. I think many people would enjoy this book and the fascinating story it weaves. Unfortunately, I am just not that person.
