Summer Reading: If You Loved This, Read That

This Summer Reading post focuses on recommendations based on similarities with popular books and movies. With a wide variety of titles, featured books include “Worldcaller” and “A Pan of Pumpkin and Pastries.”

It’s time for another Summer Reading post! This week I am sharing recommendations based on popular movies and books!

Here are my recommendations:

If you loved Barbie in the Princess and the Pauper, read A Touch of Tiaras and Treachery by Ashley Evercott.

Why?: This is such a fun book, and the movie is excellent! If you loved this movie growing up, this story dives into the story a little more with romance, action, and mystery. A Touch of Tiaras and Treachery is a compelling story, with such sweet characters and a lovely plot. The movie is a nostalgic piece of my childhood, and the book is a lovely continuation of the story in my adulthood.

If you loved To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, read I Hope This Doesn’t Find You by Ann Liang.

Why?: What if instead of Lara Jean writing love letters she wrote hate emails? To her long-time academic rival? That is what I Hope This Doesn’t Find You is all about, and I love it! I love the romance of Lara Jean and Peter, but Sadie and Julius have such a wonderful relationship and seeing them grow, and their banter throughout the course of the book, is so much fun and keeps you laughing throughout!

If you loved Avatar: The Last Airbender, read Worldcaller by Luke Beckstrand.

Why?: Worldcaller has a unique magic system, with characters able to manipulate different elements, such as wind, water, and even time. This is very reminiscent of Avatar, but the other big thing that reminds me of the show is the found family aspect. The found family is absolutely amazing, and I love that they travel around the world to save it!

If you loved The Coronation Ball, read A Pan of Pumpkin and Pastries by A.G. Marshall.

Why?: The Coronation Ball is such a cute, sweet, and fun novella retelling of Cinderella in a baking setting with nobility. A Pan of Pumpkin and Pastries takes it a step further and really explores this world! It has a wonderful romance, hidden identities, and lots of baked goods. Such a fun book, with an excellent plot and wonderful characters!

If you loved The Bachelor, read The Selection by Kiera Cass.

Why?: The Selection is basically The Bachelor in a dystopian world with royalty! I grew up with The Bachelor, so when I first read The Selection, I immediately loved it. It has the same drama, but the series focuses on one family, and it has the sweetest romance! America and Maxon are absolutely adorable and I love their love story!
