It’s time for another Top Ten Tuesday! Top Ten Tuesday is run by Jana over at That Artsy Reader Girl and this week’s theme is Bookish Discoveries I Made in 2025!
I’m struggling with this theme a little. I’m a creature of habit, so I don’t really stray from what I normally do, and I woefully don’t pay a lot of attention to what new things I do do. So, I’ll do my best to share ten discoveries I made last year!
Here’s my Top Ten:
- I Learned I Read a Lot of Books Too Young
There were a handful of books I reread last year that I had read when I was a young teen. When I first read them, I had a strong opinion on them. Well, last year I reread them and I realized I missed a lot of important contexts because I was too young when I read them.
2. I Read My Very First Dark Academia Book
I read my first dark academia book, Immortal Consequences by I.V. Marie. I don’t know if this will be a genre I read often, but I did enjoy it and am excited to explore this genre further.
3. I Love Retellings
Retellings are something I have always read, but last year I really found my niche in this genre. I loved all the different retellings I read last year and am so glad I found this genre of books.
4. Christian Fiction
I also entered more into the space of Christian fiction. This was not a genre I typically encountered before last year, and I am so glad I found this genre. This genre brought me a lot of peace during some stressful moments.
5. I Need Some Heavier Books from Time to Time
Christian fiction and retellings are amazing, but there are often lighter reads. I learned I still need the heavier, more in-depth stories too.
The next five will be new authors I found last year that I really enjoyed!
6. Melanie Cellier
7. Elayne Audrey Becker
8. Melanie Dickerson
9. Kayla Eshbaugh
10. Abigail Manning
