This month’s Saturday Spotlight theme is graphic novels. So far I have discussed Ghosts, Smile, and The Remarried Empress. You can find these posted here, here, and here.
My sister and myself absolutely love Teen Titans Go!, so when I found this series I had to give it a go. I have given the original Teen Titans a try a view times, but I have never made it through.
I actually really enjoyed this series, though it doesn’t have the same humor as Go!. In some regards this series adds some depth to the characters and it has an intriguing, cohesive storyline that Go! lacks.
This series also gives specific focus on the characters. I am not a fanatic for DC or Marvel, but there are some characters I am a fan of. So, I don’t know every different version or backstory to these characters, which can be a little confusing, but for the most part this series is pretty easy to follow without knowing that.
The series starts out with Raven, then Beast Boy, then Beast Boy Loves Raven (YES!), then Robin, and finally Starfire. The next book, Teen Titans Together, hasn’t been published yet, but is going to be published at the end of the year.
I haven’t read Starfire yet, but the books I have read were good. They were quick books, and I really enjoyed the characters and how it was more developed and in-depth than what I am used to. I also really love how each book pulls in new characters and team members, uniquely combining the books.

Summary for Raven:
When a tragic accident takes the life of seventeen-year-old Raven Roth’s foster mom—and Raven’s memory—she moves to New Orleans to live with her foster mother’s family and finish her senior year of high school. Starting over isn’t easy. Raven remembers how to solve math equations and make pasta, but she can’t remember her favorite song or who she was before the accident. When strange things start happening—things most people would consider impossible—Raven starts to think it might be better not to know who she was in her previous life. But as she grows closer to her foster sister, Max, her new friends, and Tommy Torres, a guy who accepts her for who she is now, Raven has to decide if she’s ready to face what’s buried in the past…and the darkness building inside her.
