Saturday Spotlight: Romance Book #2- Opposite of Always

An emotional romance time travel novel perfect for Valentine’s Day!

This month’s theme for Saturday Spotlight is romance. Last week I shared This Time It’s Real and you can find that post here.

Opposite of Always by Justin A. Reynolds is one of my longtime favorite romance books. When I was younger I came across this book in a YouTube book account and then I found it at Target, so I had to buy it.

I read this book at a younger age, but I don’t necessarily recommend it for young readers. It isn’t super inappropriate or graphic, but it has some heavier topics, so I think it’s best for high schoolers.

There are some moments where this book is sad, but overall, it is so good, and it has a happy ending.

I don’t read a lot of time travel books, and I absolutely love this one. I love that when the main character, Jack, goes back in time, he doesn’t always try to fall in love with the other main character, Kate. I also really loved how it was admitted at the end that these are just some of the times he went back in time. It’s really hard to explain this book without spoiling it!

I just love the way Justin A. Reynolds writes. I love both this book and Early Departures. He does a really good job of writing emotional books that tell a wonderful story and have in-depth characters.

I highly recommend this amazing, emotional romance novel!

Summary:

When Jack and Kate meet at a party, bonding until sunrise over their mutual love of Froot Loops and their favorite flicks, Jack knows he’s falling—hard. Soon she’s meeting his best friends, Jillian and Franny, and Kate wins them over as easily as she did Jack. But then Kate dies. And their story should end there. Yet Kate’s death sends Jack back to the beginning, the moment they first meet, and Kate’s there again. Healthy, happy, and charming as ever. Jack isn’t sure if he’s losing his mind. Still, if he has a chance to prevent Kate’s death, he’ll take it. Even if that means believing in time travel. However, Jack will learn that his actions are not without consequences. And when one choice turns deadly for someone else close to him, he has to figure out what he’s willing to do to save the people he loves.
