Top Ten Tuesday: New to Me Authors I Discovered in 2024

I was introduced to some amazing authors last year, in many different genres including mystery and contemporary.

Top Ten Tuesday is run by Jana over at That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s theme is New to Me Author’s I Discovered in 2024. I read a lot of new, really good books last year, so I am excited for this week’s theme.

Here’s my Top Ten:

Ann Liang

I actually really loved her books! Her protagonists were cute, quirky, and realistic. Her romances were also adorable. I am so excited for her new book, and I just finished her historical fiction book. You can find that review here.

Jeanne Birdsall

I was searching for cozy books to read when I was really struggling with anxiety. Then I found The Penderwicks. These books are so good. They are perfect for any age and follow four sisters! The first book they are on a vacation, but as the series goes on the books follow the sisters through their regular life.

Spencer Quinn

I was introduced to this author through my younger sister. We had an agreement that I would read a book of her choice, and she would read a book of my choice. She randomly chose Woof. It was just an okay book, and I probably won’t read the rest of the series.

Ally Carter

I was introduced to Ally Carter through her writing book, and then quickly read most of her fiction books. I started with the Heist Society, then Gallagher Girls, and finally Embassy Row. I loved all of these books, and they progressively got better as I went through each series.

Melanie Cellier

I was only able to read one of her books, because they are hard to find in my library system, but I loved it. I am so excited to read more of her books!

Angie Sage

I typically shy away from large books because I find them overwhelming sometimes, but I loved Angie Sage’s Septimus Heap series. It was perfect for wizard lovers, and I liked it more than Harry Potter.

Holly Smale

I was introduced to Holly Smale through her hit Netflix series Geek Girl. I loved the show so much; I have watched it twice. When I found out they were based on books I knew I had to read them. I have only read the first book because the sequels keep getting put on back order, but I hope to finish the series this year!

Diana Peterfreund

My state has a book reading challenge and one of the books for this year was For Darkness Shows the Stars. I absolutely love this book! It’s a sci-fi, dystopian retelling of Persuasion and was well done.

Alexene Farol Follmuth

All over the place I was seeing signs for the Twelfth Knight. I finally managed to get my hands on it and absolutely adored it. I then promptly bought my own copy, which was just as promptly messed up by my dog (but I forgave him). I am so glad I added this to my personal collection.

Stuart Gibbs

I don’t really like mysteries, especially super heavy ones, but I enjoyed Space Case by Stuart Gibbs. The protagonist had an interesting and memorable voice, and the story was super intriguing. The mystery also wasn’t too heavy. I’m trying to convince my sister to read it next.

What new authors were introduced to you last year?
