Top Ten Tuesday: Books on My Summer 2025 To-Read List

This week’s Top Ten Tuesday features a summer reading list of books I am determined to read. Highlights include gender-bent retellings, beloved series, and intriguing nonfiction. The list shows a mix of excitement for diverse genres, from manga to romance challenges.

It’s another Top Ten Tuesday! Top Ten Tuesday is run by Jana over at That Artsy Reader Girl.

This week’s theme is Books on My Summer 2025 To-Read List. I don’t think I did a very good job of reading the books on my previous lists, but I went back and looked at them and I didn’t do horrible! This time I am bound and determined to read these books!

Here is my Top Ten:

One for All by Lillie Lainoff

This book has been on my list for a while, and now I have the perfect reasoning to read it! My summer reading program has a “read a sports book” challenge, which I am not excited about. Despite living with a sports family, I can’t stand sports, or exercise, or just about anything requiring an overabundance of movement. This book, however, is a Three Musketeers gender-bent retelling, where a girl learns how to be musketeer, which could totally be construed as a sport. I am actually super excited to read this book!

Howl’s Moving Castle by Dianne Wynn Jones

This book has been on the edges of my radar for a number of years, and I decided to finally pull the trigger. I also watched the movie and enjoyed it, so I am curious about the book!

The Wingfeather Saga by Andrew Peterson

I read this series a few summers ago and I absolutely loved it! I have been meaning to come back to them for a while now, and then I had a perfect opportunity to snag them at the library. I am super excited to return to this amazing world!

Frieren: Beyond Journeys End by Kanehito Yamada

I am currently in the beginning of this manga series, and I actually really enjoy it. This isn’t my usual type of book, but these are sweet and the perfect books to read before bed!

The Four Kingdoms, Beyond the Four Kingdoms, Return to the Four Kingdoms, and The Four Kingdoms Duology by Melanie Cellier

I know I said I would read this in spring, but now I actually have all of the books! The final two should be arriving in the next week or so! I am super excited to read these, and these are going to be my August reads!

A Retelling of Princess and the Pea (Book 1)

Feathered Thief by J.M. Stengl, Stolen Magic by Camille Peters, and Rose Crown by Nina Clare

These three books are ARC books that I got in quick succession and are being released this month. I am excited to read them, and I think they are going to be a lot of fun!

Conquering Crisis by William H. McRaven

I don’t often read nonfiction, especially adult nonfiction, but this book intrigued me. And after loving Three Wild Dogs, I am hopeful this book will be good. I rather enjoy books that teach life lessons and tell stories, so I am hopeful this book is good.

Never Thought I’d End Up Here by Ann Liang

I love Ann Liang’s books so much and I am so excited to read her newest book! She is definitely an auto buy author for me. I am using this book to fulfill the romance challenge for my summer reading program!

Have you read any of these?

To me, Howl’s Moving Castle was very different from the movie, but both are good in their own right. And I’d like to try Frieren too.
