Top Ten Tuesday: Books That Feature Travel

This week’s Top Ten Tuesday focuses on books featuring travel. Highlighted titles include “Realm Breaker,” “The Siren,” and “I Love You So Mochi,” among others. Each recommendation features varying levels of travel as characters embark on adventures, exploring different settings and emotional journeys.

It’s another Top Ten Tuesday! Top Ten Tuesday is run by Jana over at That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s them is Books That Feature Travel.

I love a good adventure book, so this week’s topic is exciting! Some of these books feature travel a little more heavily than others, but all of them lead to cool places!

Here’s my Top Ten:

Realm Breaker by Victoria Aveyard

This book series is very travel heavy. The main group of characters travel through multiple kingdoms throughout the course of the series. This is your classic adventure book!

The Siren by Kiera Cass

I just finished this book and absolutely love it! While the main focus isn’t necessarily travel, the main character and her sisters do move around a lot to keep their secrets.

The Enchantress Returns by Chirs Colfer

This was probably my first adventure book. In this book the main group of characters have to move around their world very quickly, so they build a flying boat and travel to all of the kingdoms. It was a lot of fun and probably started my obsession with ships.

I Love You So Mochi by Sarah Kuhn

This book is a really cute contemporary romance where the main character travels to Japan to visit her grandparents over Spring Break. During this visit she meets a boy who takes her around Japan.

Walk Two Moons by Sharon Creech

This book was one of the first books I cried to. A girl moves away from her farm into the suburbs with her father after her mother leaves them. Towards the end of the book, the girl takes a trip with her grandparents to the last place her mother was. It is a really heartbreaking book!

Caraval by Stephanie Garber

Caraval isn’t focused on travel, but the main characters do have to travel to the game at the beginning of the book. Once they get to the island where the game is held, they also have to travel throughout the island while playing the game. I also just love the setting this all takes place in!

Once Upon a Broken Heart by Stephanie Garber

Again, this book isn’t super focused on travel, but the main character does move to the main setting of the book and lives there, where she has to explore and travel to different places within that kingdom.

Goose Girl by Shannon Hale

This is definitely one of my favorite books, and in it a princess travels to another kingdom and along the way her handmaiden tries to kill her and then pretends to be her when she reaches the new kingdom’s capital.

Opposite of Always by Justin A. Reynolds

Opposite of Always is a sci-fi romance that takes place in modern times. The premise is that Jack meets Kate, but Kate dies. Every time Kate dies, Jack goes back to when they meet, and it starts over. These two characters met when Jack travels to Kate’s college for a tour.

Geek Girl: Forever Geek by Holly Smale

The Geek Girl books all feature some sort of travel, but I really liked the last book. Harriet goes to Australia, and it was a cute and emotional finale to the series.

Have you read any of these? What books featuring travel do you recommend?
