Review:

Harriet has high hopes for the new school year: she is a Sixth Former now and things are going to be different. But since Nat is busy at fashion college and Toby with a Top-Secret Project, Harriet learns that is not exactly a good thing.

This was another amazing addition to the Geek Girl series! This book was less focused on modeling and romance, and more focused on friendship.

After the events of last book, Harriet is heartbroken and excited to start sixth form. She is also looking to make new friends, now that Nat is off at college and Toby is busy with a project.

Harriet, of course, makes a very detailed plan to get the people in her grade to like her. Many mishaps ensure, many of them funny, but also sad.

Harriet is well intentioned but doesn’t take everything into consideration, which ends up leading to heartbreak. Nat and Toby were also well intentioned, though this comment doesn’t make sense until the end of the book.

In this book we do get to travel with Harriet to the Sahara. I have always wanted to go to the Sahara, so I loved these parts. Harriet is a relatable character, and Holly Smale writes descriptions and Harriet’s character wonderfully.

As Harriet is dealing with heartbreak this book, there are some emotional scenes. I loved reading Nick’s letter and Harriet’s letters. Harriet was the usual Harriet in her letters, and it was unique and beautiful.

In case you need to know, Harriet does make new friends and strengthen her existing friendships in this book. It took many trials, and a few books, but we finally got here!

This was a friendship guided additon to the Geek Girl series, with many trials, mistakes, and misunderstandings. There were adventures, new friends, and heartbreak throughout All That Glitters.
