2024 Reading Challenges

In 2024, I successfully completed various reading challenges, having fun with diverse prompts and goals.

This year was the first year that I participated in Reading Challenges. I participated in five different reading challenges, and they were a lot of fun.

While I met every prompt for each challenge, I will say that I didn’t do them in order, and I am not planning on doing it in order next year; I enjoy going with the flow when I read!

The first challenge I participated in was the Goodreads reading challenge. The goal I originally set for myself was 150 books, but after challenges with anxiety that got in the way of my reading and then starting college, I lowered my goal to 120 books. I completed this goal and read 139 books in 2024!

The second challenge that I participated in was through my local library. There was a goal to read 75 books and I completed that goal during the summer, if I recall correctly.

The third challenge I completed was a Fairytale Retelling Challenge. The challenge was to read fairytale retellings to meet specific prompts. The prompts were:

Bluebeard which I meet by reading Beasts and Beauty.

Red Riding Hood which I met by reading Scarlet.

Hansel and Gretel which I met by reading Beasts and Beauty.

Beauty and the Beast which I met by reading Belle.

Cinderella which I met by reading Cinder and So This is Love.

Aladdin which I met by reading The Desert Princess.

Rapunzel which I met by reading Golden and Cress.

Free Choice which I met by reading Wild Orchid and Fate be Changed.

Rumpelstiltskin which I met by reading Beasts and Beauty.

Peter Pan which I met by reading Beasts and Beauty.

Snow White which I met by reading Winter.

The Nutcracker which I met by reading Nutcracked.

The second challenge I participated in was the Color Coded Reading Challenge. In this challenge I had to match up the color of the book to the prompt. The prompts were blue; red; yellow; green; brown; black; white; purple, orange, silver, or pink; and rainbow, polka dot, plaid, shadow, paint or ink.

The hardest prompt for me to meet was the rainbow, polka dot, plaid, shadow, paint, or ink. I met this prompt with Mind the Gap, Dash and Lily.
