Top Ten Tuesday: Best Books I Read in 2024

This post showcases some of my favorite reads from this past year!

Top Ten Tuesday is run by Jana over at That Artsy Reader Girl and this week’s theme is Best Books I Read in 2024. I have read many books this year and it has been hard to narrow down my list. These are in no particular order, and I highly recommend them.

Here’s my Top Ten:

Physik by Angie Sage

I loved the whole Spetimus Heap series but this book was my favorite. It had time travel and siblings fighting to be reunited.

See How They Run by Ally Carter

I loved this entire series, but the second book was my favorite. It deepened from the first book and the characters were further developed.

For Darkness Shows the Stars by Diana Peterfreund

This is a dystopian retelling of Persuasion. I absolutely loved it! I struggle reading classics, but I have watched the Persuasion movie and really enjoyed it. From what I can tell, this retelling stays true to the original.

Twelfth Knight by Alexene Farol Follmuth

I don’t know why I loved this book so much, but I really did. It was entertaining and intriguing, with a cute wholesome romance.

The Penderwicks by Jeanne Birdsall

I love sibling stories! So when I found a cozy series following the rambunctious Penderwicks, I was sold. I was quickly hooked with the books and absolutely adored them.

I Hope This Doesn’t Find You by Ann Liang

I was super excited for this book. Admittedly it wasn’t quite what I thought it would be, but something I am planning on rereading soon. It was cute and I loved the idea behind it.

This Time It’s Real by Ann Liang

I have recently come to the conclusion that I love the fake dating trope. Asian culture is also super interesting to me. So, combine the two, with an adorable, realistic protagonist, you get this book!

The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer

This is a reread for me and I really enjoyed it. It is a dystopian retelling of a few classic fairytales. The first book is Cinderella, then Red Riding Hood, then Rapunzel, and finally Snow White. All of them are connected and there are four really cute couples, a spaceship, and a wonderful friend group.

The Desert Princess by Melanie Cellier

After a mission to find an Aladdin retelling I came across the Desert Princess. It was a cute retelling, that had me gripped from the beginning. I enjoyed this book so much I was able to get the first whole arc of the series for Christmas.

The Lost Library by Rebecca Stead

As a long-time library volunteer, I am in love with the library. So, when I found a book with a giant orange cat on the cover, and it’s about a library I was already in love. I have read this twice now and I still love it. It reminds me how much communities need libraries, and it makes me want to get a cat.

Happy New Years everyone!

Ally Carter’s books are always fun! I haven’t read the series you’re talking about, but I did read THE MOST WONDERFUL CRIME OF THE YEAR this year and it’s very entertaining. I also love the Lunar Chronicles series. It’s a great one.

    Happy TTT!
