Review:

Charlie Donovan knows what she wants for Christmas: Teo Ortiz. He is the star of the football team, contributed to the school paper where Charlie is editor, in the Honor Society, and is invited to every party. He is exactly who Charlie belongs with, but he doesn’t even know she exists. Charlie is determined to get Teo to be her date to the Christmas ball. She has a plan: she is going to be Teo’s Secret Santa. To accomplish this she needs help from J.D. Ortiz, Teo’s cousin. J.D. is possibly the most annoying person in the world; he is unorganized, perpetually late, easy going- the opposite of Charlie. But he knows what Teo wants, so the two are thrown together. The more time she spends with J.D. the more Charlie wonders if she actually knows what she wants.

This book had cute characters and a fun story. I recently participated in my first Secret Santa and it was a lot of fun. So to read a story about Secret Santa was a lot of fun.

I really enjoyed Charlie and J.D., as well as Morgan and Ira. Now that I think about it, I wish we got to see some of J.D.’s friends. I enjoyed the banter and relationship between J.D. and Charlie. It was cute and fun, though the whole story was predictable.

I didn’t like Teo very much. This may be because I knew how the story was going to end, but Teo was kind of horrible. This just highlights how amazing J.D. is.

My favorite part of the book was how Christmas-y it was. I loved the Secret Santa aspect, the caroling, and decorating the tree. In prior reviews of Christmas book, I mention that the books aren’t very Christmas-y. This book was the perfect amount of Christmas-y!

My New Crush Gave to Me is a fun Christmas rom-com that is perfect for the holidays. The characters are fun and realistic. This is a perfect book for the holiday season!
