Saturday Spotlight: Loch Ness Uncovered

A fascinating look at one of the world’s most well-known monsters!

October 11th was Myths and Legends Day. Originally, I was going to share Percy Jackson for this holiday, but decided to switch directions and call out a nonfiction book.

I typically don’t read nonfiction but on a whim I picked up Loch Ness Uncovered: Media, Misinformation, and the Greatest Monster Hoax of All Time. I was riveted! The Loch Ness monster is a myth that I’ve been hearing about my whole life, but I didn’t actually know the story.

The story behind the Loch Ness is so fascinating. I thought this myth is hundreds of years old. However, the first sighting was just over one hundred years ago.

This book gives all the details following this fascinating myth. I don’t know what was more intriguing: the actual myth or all of the drama, lies, and schemes surrounding the Loch Ness Monster. Rebecca Siegel did a wonderful job sharing the story behind the Loch Ness monster; it was beautifully researched and explored many different perspectives surrounding the Loch Ness monster.

While a middle reader book, it’s very informative and kept my attention. I recommend this book to all monster fanatics out there or those who just want to know more about one of the most well-known monsters.
