Review:

Maddie is the daughter of the head of Secret Service. Logan is the First Son. They are also best friends. Until a tragic accident occurs which means Maddie moves to Alaska. They lose contact until six years later, when Logan shows up on her doorstep. What follows is Maddie and Logan surviving in the Alaskan wilderness, in the middle of winter, and before a big storm hits, while trying to escape from foreign kidnappers.
I love Ally Carter; she is becoming one of my favorite authors. This book, however, wasn’t her best. Did I enjoy it? Yeah, but not as much as I enjoyed her other things. One thing she does really well is having “girly” characters that are still able to handle themselves. Maddie was the perfect example of this; I mean she had a bedazzled ax! It was a good story, and I enjoyed the characters, along with how in depth the setting was written.
Logan and Maddie were cute, but I didn’t necessarily root for them. It was also irritating how often Logan tried to “save” Maddie, even though he had no clue what he was doing; he often made it worse. I think the main antagonist had promise, but if fell flat for me. I think Ally Carter should stick to series to better expand the storylines and characters, and I think that’s why Not If I Save You First fell flat for me.
Not If I Save You First was adventurous, with a wonderful setting and intriguing characters. There were some issues, as the character’s relationship fell a little flat. If you want a quick adventure book, that doesn’t take too long, then this is the book for you.
