Review:
Cammie is now a junior! Cammie and Macey are soon in the middle of a kidnapping plot and Cammie wants to solve the mystery and keep her friend safe. Things don’t feel as safe as they once did in the Gallagher Academy and Cammie and her friends are determined to figure out what is going on.

I will say this book is much more serious than the previous two. The first two had some serious elements, but there are real stakes and dangers in this book. While Cammie’s voice has matured, she is still such a fun character to read. She is so real and relatable, despite very different circumstances between her and I. Don’t Judge a Girl by Her Cover dove deeper into other characters, specifically Liz and Macey. There was one scene where I think we really got to see Liz. Macey was the star of this book, and she stopped being the rich kid from I’d Tell You I Love You, But Then I’d Have to Kill You. I absolutely loved Abby. She was fun but had her responsible moments, too. For some reason she reminded me of a human tornado.

There was action that happened throughout the book, but the main climax didn’t happen until the last ten pages. It didn’t leave off on a cliffhanger (thankfully), but it didn’t leave much time for a resolution. It didn’t necessarily feel rushed, but I wished the climax happened a few pages sooner to allow for more of a conclusion.

In Don’t Judge a Girl by Her Cover we met some wonderful new characters and got a better understanding of previous characters. We are introduced to the series over-arching antagonists and the series takes on a more serious storyline. A really good book, that continues the story and propels the series forward in a new way.

Don’t Judge a Girl by Her Cover is book three in the Gallagher Girls series, and I think you need to read the first two books in order to really understand what is happening in this book.
